The Impact

I have trained and supported hundreds of leaders and teams to navigate complex institutional dynamics, respond to crisis and harm, and implement human-centered strategies for change.

Dr. Méndez provides highly impactful professional service, including being a confidential advisor for leaders, running skill-building workshops, and holding space for important, difficult conversations to effectively occur.  Through our four years of working together, I have come to think of her as an important member of my cabinet and I cannot imagine a more impactful facilitator and consultant.

We reached out to Dr. Méndez because we were looking for support navigating serious gender power dynamics and demoralization among faculty due to untenable and inequitable workloads. In response she designed and facilitated six very complicated and excellent workshops for the students and faculty in our department. These workshops were very helpful for all the participants, including for the most skeptical of participants.  She developed tools that helped us support those with grievances and helped us identify ways to work better as a community. Her interventions made a profound and everlasting impact on our department.

The practices that Xhercis presented within the Conflict Style workshop helped our team connect more deeply and helped us gain skills to be used in both personal and work life. Learning these skills helps break generational trauma. They are skills that help us heal and help us keep moving/transforming. Thank you for leading by example, making these lessons visible, and helping us gain skills to be empowered and transform together. I know this is what will help our community uplift and care for each other overall.

Her questions were very useful for leading us towards action through thinking individually and collaboratively. That is so often missing in all of these workshops. I learned so much and really appreciated her approach to just diving in and discussing messy situations. Many, many thanks to Xhercis!

Thank you again for your work with Aunt Lute and for how
straight-forwardly you approach the work to be done. Such a pleasure…

Dr. Xhercis (Sir-Sis) Méndez, Ph.D., is a professor of Criminal Justice and has spent more than half her life navigating complex systems and helping people talk to each other when it's really hard. Beginning with her experiences as a translator for her Spanish-speaking mother, she learned early on the importance of asking the right questions and the power of bridging communities across significant differences. She has since become a compassionate educator, facilitator, and strategist dedicated to helping people transform conflict into opportunities for growth. With over 20 years of experience in education and facilitation across organizational, K-12, and higher education settings, Dr. Méndez invites everyone she works with to discover their own capacity for empathy and understanding, to turn challenges into human-centered solutions, and to build sustainable connections for the future!
